Calm & Gentle Dental Care

Originally from South Africa, Pieter qualified as a dental surgeon in 1999 at the Pretoria University. In 2004 he came to the England with his wife Estie, a dental hygienist and settled in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Pieter became the proud owner of Hanover House Dental Surgery in the same year and has continued to serve the local residents and look after their dental care since.

Due to his passion to help patients overcome their fear of the dentist, Hanover House undertook a re-brand in 2017 and are now known as Calm & Gentle Dental Care.

“I am privileged to be given the opportunity to help patients overcome their fear of the dentist. When a patient comes to see me for the first time following years of oral health neglect due to the anxiety they feel, being given that responsibility of escorting them through their journey is an honour and I never tire of the satisfaction I get from seeing a patient leave my practice with a new smile and increased confidence!”

Shalin Sharma

Hygiene Therapist

I studied at Portsmouth University and Kings College London and received an Honours Degree In Dental Hygiene and Therapy in 2011. I was the chosen representative for a revolutionary pilot training scheme developed by the two universities, leasing with the Health Minister of the time.

I have been treating patients for 6 years since, and am proud to say that I quickly gained a reputation for being very gentle.

My main interests lie in a variety of gum treatments, Tooth Whitening techniques and cosmetic, natural looking fillings. As required in the profession, I continue to attend multiple courses all year long, keeping up to date with the latest techniques and technologies. I have completed a Cosmetic Dentistry and Whitening Course by celebrity Dentist Linda Greenwall, widely considered a foremost expert in the field.

Away from work I enjoy going to the gym and playing golf.

Louise Flack

I qualified at Guys Hospital in 1990 gaining the Hu Friedy prize for Scaling. Since qualifying I have worked for several practices in the Sussex & Kent area. I joined the clinic in around 2010 and have a great relationship with my patients and the team.

At home I enjoy Pilates & singing- but not at the same time! I've recently started walking regularly to counteract my hours of sitting whilst treating patients!

Amy Barden

Senior Dental Nurse

Hanover House was my first step into the world of Dentistry and I’ve loved every minute! Since starting in 2010 I’ve gained my NEBDN qualification in Dental Nursing, and have always been encouraged and supported to further my career in Dentistry.

I love the diversity of each day at work, especially the dental implant treatments we provide; they really are life changing for our patients.  I feel so fortunate to be part of a team who support each other to grow and develop; always aiming to provide the best care we can to our patients.

Since my journey started at Hanover House I’ve gained a husband and a foot on the property ladder! I love spending time with my family and I’m excited to see what the future holds.

Sandy Nicoll

Senior Receptionist

Hi, my name is Sandy. I have worked at Hanover House for the last 25 years, so I may be familiar, hopefully to our longstanding patients by now. Part of the furniture you could say!

The reason I have been here so long is because it’s such a lovely place to work. Obviously, things change, but the ‘essence’ of the place remains. We care about our patients and pride ourselves in that.

I love helping our patients and have a fun approach to work. I would like to think that nervous patients will find us a friendly, welcoming place with the ‘human touch’.

Louise McDonnell

I have been working here at Calm and Gentle Dental Care since April 2017.

This is my first adventure back into the working world after raising my three children for the last ten years.

Everyone here – staff and patients – have made me feel really welcome. It’s been a long time since I have worked in such a friendly environment!

I have gained the majority of my experience working within a Primary Care Trust, a very demanding and fast-paced environment, so the calm nature of this practice is a very welcome change. It’s lovely to have the time to talk to our patients and get to know them on a personal level, rather than just the ‘business end’!

Donna Barnham

Business Development Manager

I have worked in dentistry for over 30 years…I can’t believe I am actually saying that! After my first week as a dental nurse, at the tender age of 16, I knew this was a job I would do for life…I developed a real passion and have enjoyed my working carer immensely. Helping patients when they feel vulnerable and being part of their successful journey from, having little or no confidence to leaving us with a beautiful smile give me 100% job satisfaction. Patient care is of the up-most-importance to me and together with our team here in Tonbridge we pride ourselves on outstanding customer service. Working in a beautiful Victorian building with the team I work with and the patients we see is a privilege!

At home I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren…they definitely keep me young!

Tom Rees

I joined the team at Calm & Gentle Dental Care in October 2015, and have been creating emails, information packs and monthly offers since! I started on an Apprenticeship course, and earned two marketing qualifications over the course of a year.

This is my first role in the dental field, and I’ve never learnt as much anywhere else! Occasionally you may see me out on reception, where I’d love to hear about your ideas that could make your experience here even better.

Outside of Hanover House, I love spending time with my friends and family!

Anna Cutts

Trainee Dental Nurse

I started at Hanover House in October 2016, and have enjoyed every moment. I am currently in the process of my dental nursing qualification which I will finish in April 2018. I have learnt so much from working at this practice, and I’m very grateful to be part of the team! I am looking forward to seeing how my career in the dental field will develop after I finish my qualification!

When I am not looking at teeth, I enjoy dancing and I love embracing new challenges.

Alison Caston

I started dental nursing nine years ago. After taking a short break to complete my family, I have been welcomed back into the dental world by the team and patients at Calm & Gentle Dental Care Tonbridge. Outside of work I like to catch up with friends and spend time with my family.

David Hamblin

I graduated from Birmingham University before joining Calm & Gentle Dental Care Tonbridge in October 2017 - and I haven't looked back since! My favourite part about my role is the people I get to meet every day, whether they are new faces or old, I like to see them leaving my chair with a big (clean) smile.

Outside of work I enjoy swimming and art, and spending time with my friends and family

Dr Eman Lavasani

Associate Dentist

I qualified as a dental surgeon in 2015 in Devon. Following this I spent a year in a picturesque village in Cornwall treating the local community from all walks of life. From this experience I have further developed a number of skills and techniques that have proven to be very useful.

I find my work greatly rewarding and I am confident that I am able to put my patients at ease when carrying out a variety of treatments.

When not in surgery, I enjoy socialising with family and friends and basketball, playing every so often with a team! I also have some small birds which I love to teach tricks to.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
