Calm & Gentle Dental Care

Meet The Team

GDC No. 76231

Dr Pieter Claaseen

Originally from South Africa, Pieter qualified as a dental surgeon in 1999 at the Pretoria University. In 2004 he came to England with his wife Estie, a dental hygienist and settled in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Pieter became the proud owner of Hanover House Dental Surgery in the same year and has continued to serve the local residents and look after their dental care since.

Due to his passion to help patients overcome their fear of the dentist, Hanover House undertook a re-brand in 2017 and are now known as Calm & Gentle Dental Care.

“I am privileged to be given the opportunity to help patients overcome their fear of the dentist. When a patient comes to see me for the first time following years of oral health neglect due to the anxiety they feel, being given that responsibility of escorting them through their journey is an honour and I never tire of the satisfaction I get from seeing a patient leave my practice with a new smile and increased confidence!”

Dr Eman Lavasani

Dr Eman-Lavasani

Associate Dentist

I qualified as a dental surgeon in 2015 in Devon. Following this, I spent a year in a picturesque village in Cornwall treating the local community from all walks of life. From this experience, I have further developed a number of skills and techniques that have proven to be very useful.

I find my work greatly rewarding and I am confident that I am able to put my patients at ease when carrying out a variety of treatments.

When not in surgery, I enjoy socialising with family and friends and basketball, playing every so often with a team! I also have some small birds which I love to teach tricks to.

Raveena Patel – GDC 265193

Hi, my name is Raveena and I’m the newest dentist at Calm & Gentle Dental Care!

I recently joined the team at Tonbridge, and have seen a few patients already.  I graduated from Cardiff University in 2016 and worked in an A&E department specifically for dental injuries.

Now I’m looking to expand my knowledge and experience in General Dental Care, and explore different styles of dentistry.

I’m currently learning how to provide Same-Day CEREC Crowns, and I’m looking forward to learning more with the team!

Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my close friends and family.

Shalin Sharma – GDC 213541

I studied at Portsmouth University and Kings College London and received an Honours Degree In Dental Hygiene and Therapy in 2011. I was the chosen representative for a revolutionary pilot training scheme developed by the two universities, liaising with the Health Minister of the time. I have been treating patients for 6 years since,  and am proud to say that I quickly gained a reputation for being very gentle.

My main interests lie in a variety of gum treatments, Tooth Whitening techniques and cosmetic, natural-looking filling. As required in the profession, I continue to attend multiple courses all year long, keeping up to date with the latest techniques and technologies. I have completed a Cosmetic Dentistry and Whitening Course by celebrity Dentist Linda Greenwall, widely considered a foremost expert in the field. Away from work I enjoy going to the gym and playing golf.

Dental Hygienist

Louise Flack – GDC 391

I qualified at Guys Hospital in 1990 gaining the Hu Friedy prize for Scaling. Since qualifying, I have worked for several practices in the Sussex & Kent area. I joined the clinic in around 2010 and have a great relationship with my patients and the team.

At home I enjoy Pilates & singing- but not at the same time! I’ve recently started walking regularly to counteract my hours of sitting whilst treating patients!

David Hamblin – GDC  270972

Dental Hygiene Therapist

I graduated from Birmingham University before joining Calm & Gentle Dental Care Tonbridge in October 2017   and I haven’t looked back since.

My favourite part about my role is the people I get to meet every day, whether they are new faces or old.

I like to see them leaving my chair with a big (clean) smile. Outside of work I enjoy swimming and art and spending time with my friends and family

Amy Barden – GDC 225335

Dental Nurse

Hanover House was my first step into the world of Dentistry and I’ve loved every minute!

Since starting in 2010 I’ve gained my NEBDN qualification in Dental Nursing, and have always been encouraged and supported to further my career in Dentistry.

I love the diversity of each day at work, especially the dental implant treatments we provide; they really are life-changing for our patients.  I feel so fortunate to be part of a team who support each other to grow and develop; always aiming to provide the best care we can to our patients.

Since my journey started at Hanover House I’ve gained a husband and a foot on the property ladder! I love spending time with my family and I’m excited to see what the future holds.

Gemma Keemer

Dental Receptionist

  Gemma Keemer – GDC 258239

I joined the team in February 2019, and I’m the newest member! I have been in dentistry for 10 years now, qualifying as a     Dental Nurse in 2010. In 2017, I also qualified as a sedation nurse.

Now I have decided to take a more admin based role, to see how a dental practice is run on a day-to-day basis, but I still nurse every so often – so you may find me behind the desk, or in the surgery!

In my spare time, I love spending time with family & friends and I love spending quality time with my husband and my gorgeous dog, Bella!

Dental Nurse

Jade Northen – GDC 276729

My name is Jade and I’m the youngest member of the team here at Tonbridge!

I joined Calm & Gentle Dental Care in November 2018 and am really enjoying my time here learning new things and other sides to dentistry I didn’t even know existed!

I completed my Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing and qualified in May 2018.

I have always been interested in dentistry and knew it was a path that I wanted to follow!  When out of work I enjoy going to the gym and spending time with friends and family.

Donna Barnham

Business Development Manager

I have worked in dentistry for over 30 years…I can’t believe I am actually saying that! After my first week as a dental nurse, at the tender age of 16, I knew this was a job I would do for life…I developed a real passion and have enjoyed my working carer immensely.

Helping patients when they feel vulnerable and being part of their successful journey from, having little or no confidence in leaving us with a beautiful smile give me 100% job satisfaction. Patient care is of the up-most-importance to me and together with our team here in Tonbridge we pride ourselves on outstanding customer service.

Working in a beautiful Victorian building with the team I work with and the patients we see is a privilege!

At home, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren…they definitely keep me young!
