What are teeth in a day?

As the name suggests, teeth in a day, or all-on-four, are a streamlined alternative to traditional implants.

This cosmetic dental treatment replaces missing teeth and restores your smile in just one sitting.

Rather than fitting individual implants per missing tooth, teeth in a day involves placing implant-supported bridges.

Depending on how many teeth are missing, the bridge is attached to 4, 6 or 8 implants.

Using a bridge and implant combination allows for a quicker and less complicated procedure.

What are the benefits of all-on-four?

There are many benefits to the All-on-Four procedure:

  • Unlike removable dentures, all-on-four is a permanent and fixed restorative solution
  • Minimally invasive surgery
  • Natural-looking teeth and smile
  • Restores bite and chewing function
  • Durable, can last up to 15 years with sustained maintenance

If you are missing numerous teeth on either your upper or lower jaw, then all-on-four or a same day teeth procedure will be recommended by your dentist.

This procedure is also most suited to those who have failing teeth due to advanced tooth decay or gum disease and want to restore many teeth at a time.

All-on-four is an ideal restorative solution

In your consultation with your dentist, you will discuss all factors and options for your procedure, along with the risks, and any pre-existing conditions that you have.

You can rest assured that we will only undertake a procedure when we are confident it is the right option for the patient and their medical and dental needs.

If you are a nervous patient, or you have concerns about the treatment, we can help you by listening and discussing how best to move forward with treatment.

1. Diagnosis and preparation

The first step in the process is a consultation with your dental specialist.

At this stage, you will meet with one of our oral experts to discuss your dental issues, your desired finished smile, and we will discuss the best treatment options for you.

For first-time patients, we will discuss your medical and dental history so that we can make your treatment with us as comfortable as possible.

As our name suggests, we are committed to providing care that is both calm and gentle.

If you are anxious about any part of the procedure, then we will discuss the best way to approach this throughout your treatment with us.

We will conduct a scan of your mouth to analyse the best areas to place your implants, and tailor your smile.

If you require a single implant, look at our implants page.

2. Implant placement procedure

Once you have met with your dental consultant, you will be booked in for your appointment.

When the day arrives, implants will be inserted into your jaw.

We will place anywhere between 4 and 8 implants into your jaw, depending on your specific smile requirements.

Unlike conventional implants, there is no need to wait for the crown to be placed on the implant with All-on-four.

You can rest assured that within one appointment, you will be leaving the dental clinic with a beautiful and fully-restored smile. See our smile gallery.

3. Provisional Restoration

Once the implants have been placed, the bridge is attached to them.

This is a temporary bridge which will allow your mouth to be fully functional while you await your individually-shaped bridge.

While you have your temporary bridge, you will be able to eat and chew normally.

4. Permanent Restoration

Your permanent bridge is fitted around 3 months after your implant placement. This is the final stage in the all-on-four procedure, and your smile is complete!

5. Aftercare

Once your surgery is complete, your dentist will provide you with the aftercare treatment and advice you need for long-lasting results.

The most important aftercare advice is to maintain an effective oral hygiene routine.

You must brush twice daily and floss regularly in order to keep your smile healthy-looking and gleaming.

Aftercare tips also include:

  • Using a soft-bristled toothbrush
  • Use anti-evasive toothpaste
  • Brush at least 2 times a day
